Preparations for Worship

Only in Jesus.

True worship acknowledges & embraces the only way that the LORD God of Heaven established to enter into His presence — Jesus Christ.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

In heart & truth.

Worship that is ceremonial can continue without any engagement of the heart. A hypocrite can “do things.” Jesus told us of another way.

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

With repentance for sin.

Worship that exalts God recognizes wrong done against Him. In Jesus Christ, a right relationship can be restored through repentance.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

To lift up the LORD.

Worship can express itself in many ways — praise, thanksgiving, repentance, sacrifice, testimony, & obedience. At the core, worship is the exaltation of the LORD according to who He is & what He does.

Psalm 150:1-2 Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. 2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
